Malaysian NR production declined 18% year-on-year in March
Kuala Lumpur -Â Malaysia's production of NR in March 2007 was 98 649 tonnes. This is 17.7 percent less than was produced in March 2006 and 20.9 percent less than February 2007. In the three months to March, total production was 331.4 kt, 5.2 percent less than the first three months of 2006.
The price of latex concentrate in March was 569.00 sen. This was 0.7 percent lower than the previous month, but up by 3.1% on the price a year ago. In SMR 20, the price averaged 717.9 sen in March. It followed a similar trend to latex: down on the February price, but 2.4 percent higher than March 2006.
Domestic consumption of NR in March 2007 was 36,356 tonnes, an increase of 11.0% as compared to February 2007. Year-on-year, an increase of 7.0% was noted.
