EC polychloroprene cartel investigation is not linked to US probe in 2005
By Simona Stankovska, ERJ staff
Brussels - The European Commission, today revealed that the alleged polychloroprene rubber cartel that it is investigating, is not linked to that of the US investigation two years ago, when DuPont Dow Elastomers was fined $80 million.
An EC spokesperson said, “The alleged time period and infringement is different to that of two years ago."
The spokeswoman refused to name any of the companies involved or release the timescale in which the investigation is expected to take place. “Each investigation is individual and therefore, the time which it will take, cannot be estimated,†she said.
The European Commission has refused to comment any further, until they hear back from the companies that are allegedly involved.
