Great Harwood, UK - Metflex Precision Rubber Mouldings Ltd, who has seen its sales increase by 20 percent to £6 million (€8.8 million) this year, has invested in, a large Maplan injection moulding press, to give it more flexibility with manufacture.
Metflex, whose main business is making diaphragms for gas meters, puts its increase in sales down to the fact that it operates in such a niche market.
The company, who despite having the dollar, and energy costs going against it, is having a good year and is looking to grow in the American gas market.
“We are looking to redesign our website in order to attract new business. Our big market potentially is the American gas market,†said David Hudson, director of purchasing and facilities for Metflex.
“The message that we are trying to push is that we as a company are growing and are still here. We received reports last year from people saying that the rubber industry is in decline, struggling, and really we are just trying to pick up a bit of business from that,†he added.
