Lanxess raises prices of rubber chemicals worldwide
Leverkusen, Germany - Lanxess AG has announced global price increases on a range of rubber chemicals, effective from 15 June 2007. The company blamed the increases on the continued high cost of the raw materials and the increase in energy prices.
The company said the increases will affect antioxidants (Vulkanox), antiozonants (Vulkazon), plasticisers (Vulkanol) and zinc oxides produced by the Rubber Chemicals business unit.
The increases will vary by product group, but will be between €100 and €220 ($150 and $300) per tonne, said Lanxess.
The announcement comes as a surprise to many in the industry, who have seen prices stabilise on most product groups since January of this year.
