Troubled Maerdy compounder rescued from Administration
Maerdy, Wales -Â Crosslink, the Maerdy-based rubber compounding operation has been saved, along with 84 jobs, after businessman Mark Rushin put in a successful bid to buy the company. The new company will be re-named Crosslinks, in an effort to maintain its strong reputation for customer service and quality.
Rushin runs a series of privately-owned companies including Avon Group Manufacturing Ltd, which specialies in water-jet cutting of rubber and plastic goods. Other members of the group are Precision Cut Rubber, P & D Manufacturing and United Polymers SRO. All specialising in rubber and plastics goods.
Rushin said his business specialise in offering excellent service, quality and flexibility across a range of industry sectors and customers. He added that the Maerdy plant complements his existing activities very well, delivering superb customer service to a range of customers including many from the automotive sector. He said some of these key customers have worked very hard with himself and the rest of the Maerdy team to keep the Crosslink factory open during the period of Administration and afterwards.
Crosslink was created in January, 2005, when a previous business, United Polymers, was acquired from administrators by a new management team. United Polymers went into administration in October 2004, when it employed about 300. United Polymers also operated a Precision Cut Rubber in Corsham, near Bath and a unit at Hranice in the Czech Republic, but these were sold separately to Rushin in 2004. The acquisition of Crosslink brings the three businesses together once more, alongside Avon Group Manufacturing Ltd.
