Thailand's BoI approves NBR latex plant
Bangkok, Thailand - Thailand's Board of Investment has approved a number of projects relevant to the rubber industry. The new projects include a new NBR latex factory and a rubber processor.
BST Elastomers Co, will invest 2506 million baht (€55 million) to make acrylonitrile butadiene latex and modified acrylonitrile butadiene latex (nitrile latex) as raw materials for producing rubber gloves, foam and other products. The project was proposed by Pichit Nithivarin, who is president of BST Elastomers Co., Ltd. and it is expected to create 96 jobs.
This is the first NBR plant to be built in Thailand. It will be built in the Map ta Phut Industrial Estate, Rayong Province where BSTE already has a plant making BR and SBR under licence from from JSR Corp and Zeon Corp.
Aditya Birla Chemicals (Thailand) Co., Ltd. will invest 140.1 million Baht (€3 million) to produce epichlorohydrin. The Thai and Indian joint venture project will employ 9 Thais at a plant to be located in Rayong (Zone 2).
Nishikawa Tachapalalert Rubber Co., Ltd. will invest 310 million Baht (€6.7 million) to produce automotive rubber parts. The Thai - Japanese joint venture project will employ 171 Thai people at a plant to be located in Nakhon Ratchasima (Zone 3).
