Global thermal black market report

Dublin, Republic of Ireland - The global thermal black market is subject to a new report from Research and Markets called “World Thermal Black,” the research company announced 14 Oct.

Thermal black is used primarily in the rubber industry, where it improves resilience and elasticity in components such as seals, gaskets, o-rings, diaphragms, belts and hoses. Other markets include wire and cable jacketing, refractories, metallurgy, and high temperature insulation.

The report details how following challenging times in previous years, including the closure of major supplier Sevalco/Columbian Chemicals, the thermal black market experienced some improvement in 2006/2007, adding that “future demand in the thermal black industry depends on greater penetration of the Asian market, particularly as rubber compounders in the region strive to raise quality to meet global standards.”

World Thermal Black provides data on thermal black demand in tonnes and US dollars for all years from 2003 through 2007, with forecasts for 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2015. Data include both fine (N880) and medium (N990) thermal black.
