Rhodia inaugurates R&D centre in Shanghai

Shanghai - International chemical company Rhodia inaugurated its new International Research & Development Center on the 19 Nov to “spearhead the Group's innovation in the Asia-Pacific zone,†the company said in a statement.
The new centre, Rhodia said, is dedicated to the Asian market and will focus on developing “high technology innovations†to provide cost-effective solutions in a number of areas, including providing support for Rhodia's industrial activities and working on process improvements.
The company has built up a team of 70 researchers, contributing to fifteen inventions, which are about to become patents, the company said.
Rhodia said in 2010, the centre will cover 6500-sq.m., employing a total of 150 research scientists. The company spent Euro 119 million on R&D in 2007.
