MREPC to hold glove tour in Australia

Kuala Lumpur -- Malaysia's Rubber Export Promotion Council is to hold a series of seminars in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane on the 8th, 10th and 12th December respectively. The aim is to promote the use of NR gloves in infection control within healthcare environments.
Papers will be presented by speakers from Europe, Australia and Malaysia. Dr Henning Allmers, the Director of the Department of Occupational Medicine at the Division of Dermatology, Environmental Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Osnabrueck in Germany will discuss natural rubber latex allergies in the German health care system. Dr Kristiina Turjanma of Tampere University Hospital in Finland will present her analysis of current development on latex protein allergy in Finland in particular and Europe in general. Dr Connie Katelaris, Professor in Immunology and Allergy at the University of Western Sydney and Dr Michael Sutherland of Austin Health will report on the latest studies and development in Australia on latex protein allergy.
Finally, Dr Esah Yip, director of MREPC's USA office, will present a paper on 'The case for the continued use of latex gloves' and Dr Amir Hashim of the Malaysian Rubber Board will talk on 'The environmental advantage of natural polymers.
