Conti extends chairman's contract 5 years

Hannover, Germany -- Continental AG's Supervisory Board has extended the contract of Karl-Thomas Neumann, executive board chairman since Sept. 1, for five more years.
Neumann, 47, has been been a member of Conti's executive board since October 2004, joining Conti after five years with Volkswagen AG He was named chairman after then-CEO Manfred Wennemer resigned amidst the takeover bid by fellow German automotive supplier Schaeffler Group.
Prior to joining VW in 1999, Mr. Neumann worked at Motorola GmbH from 1993 to 1999, heading electronics research and the corporatewide electronics strategy, and at Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits and Systems from 1989 to1993.
He holds a doctoral degree in electrical engineering.
