Tokai opens AVS plant in Kyushu

Bungotakada City, Oita Prefecture, Japan -- Tokai Rubber Industrieshas opened a new state-of-the-art plant to make automotive anti-vibration rubber and resin hoses. The unit is located in the Oita Northern Core Industrial Park in Bungotakada City, Oita Prefecture.
Using the latest equipment, TRI Kyushu Ltd. aims to be Tokai's most advanced production site, and is said to be competitive with low-cost countries. The site continues Tokai's eco-friendly stance and serves as a model plant to realise technical innovation. Its operation techniques will later be extended to the entire TRI Group.
The unit has a floor area of 17 500 m2 within a site of 120 000 m2 and represents an investment of Yen 8300 million (Euro 68 million). Tokai expects to generate around Yen 10 000 million (Euro 82 million) per year in sales from the unit, which will employ about 200 by 2012. (
