Bridgestone to double conveyor belt capacity in Yokohama
ERJ staff report (DS)
Tokyo -- Bridgestone Corp. is to double production capacity of steel-reinforced conveyor belts for use in mining operations. The expansion work will take place at Bridgestone's Yokohama Plant, which already manufactures the product, with plans to begin production from 2011 and gradually increase production volume. Investment of around ¥5.0 billion (Euro 41 million) has been earmarked for the project.
Bridgestone said the expansion is in response to long-term growth in mineral demand. The company forecasts continued firm demand for minerals, particularly outside Japan, and as such, aims to provide high-quality products that can handle severe usage conditions.
