Tigar opens state of the art rubber footwear plant

Pirot, Serbia -- The Tigar Corporation has opened a new rubber boot and footwear factory, which it claims is the largest and most modern plant of its kind in Europe. The new facility was built at a cost of Euro 17.6 million, partly financed by a Euro 7 million loan from DEG-Deutsche investitions- und entwicklungsgesellschaft MBH.
Dragan Nikolic, CEO of the Tigar Corporation said the new plant currently has capacity for 2.5 million pairs per year, which will increase by June 2009 to a total planned capacity of 4 million pairs. The three-year income from sales is expected to be some 75 million euros. The construction and initiation of the new footwear factory is part of a 32 million euro investment project, which will make the Tigar III complex one of the leading industrial centres in the Balkans.
Tigar Footwear manufactures high-end rubber footwear aimed at the export market. The product assortment includes rubber footwear for various uses, manufactured in compliance with specific environmental standards. The most important segment consists of safety footwear for professional use, intended to protect the user from injuries and designed to address the most extreme challenges of the work environment.
