Malaysian NR production slumped in October

Kuala Lumpur -- Malaysia saw a 14.7 percent decline in NR production in the month of October, compared with the same month in 2007. In the month of October, Malaysia produced 80 190 tonnes of NR, bringing the January-October production to 955 600 tonnes, 5.5 percent less than in the same period last year.
Exports also slumped by around 22 percent compared both with September this year and October last year. Imports were up slightly on September, but down by 33 percent compared with October 2007.
In October 2008, the average monthly price of latex concentrate was 457.75 cent, decreased 27.0% compared to September 2008. The average price of latex in October 2008 was 8.5% lower when compared with October 2007.
