IRRDB publishes book on SALB
ERJ staff report (DS)
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia -- The IRRDB (International Rubber Research and Development Board) has published a book on the organism Microcyclus uleï which causes South American Leaf Blight in the rubber tree, Hevea Brasiliensis. Funding was provided by the Common Fund for Commodities.
The organism is currently limited to South America, but the industry is concerned that increased global air travel will permit spread to other regions, notably south-east Asia. The IRRDB compiled the work based on meetings held at a plantation owned by Group Michelin in Brazil's Bahia State
This book lists what current knowledge about the disease, how to fight it, and genetic selection for resistance. It was compiled following the International work group that was organised at the plantation from November 26 to December 2, 2007.
The book is titled
Enhanced management control of South American Leaf Blight
