Sumitomo sets up South American subsidiary
ERJ staff report (DS)
Kobe, Japan -- Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. is to establish a company to sell replacement tyres in Central and South America. The move follows a similar decision affecting the Middle East region last September.
SRI said the latest decision would strengthen its tyre sales in the region, which is expected to continue to show demand growth. The company will be called Sumitomo Rubber Latin America Limitada and will be located in Santiago, Chile.
The unit has a share capital of US$1 million and will employ 17 when it opens for business in October 2009.
