Hunter Wellies go high fashion with Jimmy Choo
ERJ staff report (DS)
Edinburgh, Scotland -- Hunter Boot Ltd -- already known for its high-class connections -- has gone even further up market with a designer welly. The company is making natural rubber boots for upscale fashion store, Jimmy Choo. Dubbed, "the most luxurious Wellington boots" they will retail at around £200 per pair compared with a more typical £20 per pair.
Last year Hunter made a range of boots aimed at fashion-conscious festival-goers, and this is a logical development.
“I was inspired by images from the festivals of the hip Brit girls in their wellies. This led to our collaboration with Hunter to produce a sleek interpretation of the British classicâ€, said Tamara Mellon, Jimmy Choo President and Founder.
The boots use the standard Hunter shape, but have a glossy black crocodile pattern -Â a Jimmy Choo signature -- embossed into the surface. Instead of a rough canvas interior, the boots' interior will have a leopard print design. The boots also feature gold buckles and other Choo-inspired detailing.
The boots will be on sale from June 2009, but avid fashionistas can put their names on the waiting list from 1 May.
