ERJ staff report (TB)
Detroit, Michigan -- Michelin North America Inc. this week at the North American International Auto Show is launching its Energy Saver All Season tyre line, which it claims offers an “unprecedented†environmentally friendly performance package.
Targeted at passenger car owners who drive less than 10,000 miles per year, the Energy Saver All Season offers “low levels of rolling resistance and exceptional treadlife, wet braking and all season performance,†Michelin claims.
“During these trying economic times, it is essential that we provide consumers with a product that is long-lasting, good for the environment and a smart investment,†said Florent Menegaux, president of Michelin's worldwide passenger car and light truck tyre business and a member of the Michelin Group Executive Council, at a press conference in Detroit.
The Energy Saver All Season tyre will launch this summer with Michelin's “Green X†symbol on the sidewall, indicating to consumers a level of increased fuel-efficiency. Michelin did not disclose at this time any comparative rolling resistance or treadlife data, either with its own existing tyres or with competitors' products.
