Polymerlatex to close latex plant in UK
ERJ staff report (DS)
Bromsgrove, UK -- PolymerLatex is to begin the closure of its latex plant in Bromsgrove, UK with immediate effect. The company said the unit will cease production of carboxylated SBR latex, nitrile latex and all other products made at the plant by March 2009 at the latest.
PolymerLatex said customers would continue to be supplied from the company's plants in Marl, Germany or Filago, Italy.
“These are rough times - We will mothball our Bromsgrove plant in order to reduce overall structural costs and leverage our German and Italian production facilities alternatively. At the same time, I am sure that we will manage uninterrupted and competitive supply for our customers out of our Marl or Filago plantsâ€, says Dr. Dieter Hesterwerth, Chief Operating Officer of PolymerLatex.
