Bridgestone US vice president to retire
Nashville, Tennessee -- Dave Laubie, vice president of sales engineering for Bridgestone Americas, will retire from the company on Feb. 1.
Laubie, who started with the former Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. international division in 1970, has worked for the company in Brazil, Chile, Kenya and Mexico. He joined Bridgestone as its customer service/technical services manager in 1982 and was based in Torrance, California.
In 1992, Laubie was promoted to director of engineering for the company, and he also held the title of executive director of engineering before being promoted in 2003 to his current role.
Assuming Laubie's responsibilities will be William Thomas, assistant plant manager and quality assurance manager for Bridgestone Argentina. Thomas joined Bridgestone in 1995 as manager, engineering services-sales engineering and has since held positions such as national fleet manager of product liability and sales engineering regional manager, north region.
In his new role as executive director of sales engineering, Thomas will report to Asahiko Nishiyama, chairman, CEO and president of Bridgestone Americas.
