Vibracoustic develops heat-resistant nano-elastomer

Weinheim, Germany -- Vibracoustic has developed an EPDM-based material for engine-compartment applications which can replace natural rubber. As engine temperatures have risen, and ventialtion opportunities decreased, the engine compartment has worked hotter. The new material has a temperature limit about 20°C higher than older compounds whilst maintaining at least the same durability properties.
Vibracoustic saidd, "After intensive development over a period of three years, the chemists of Vibracoustic successfully increased the heat resistance of synthetic rubber by up to 20°C by applying nano technology. Moreover, the fatigue durability of the EPDM-based compound increased twofold in comparison to conventional elastomers. Vibracoustic thus brings an unrivalled rubber compound into series, a compound which as well complies with future requirements of the automotive industry."
