Crain's Manchester Business staff report
Yorkshire, UK - A Yorkshire-based arm of US quoted group EnPro Industries Inc. (NYSE: NPO) has acquired PTM (UK) Ltd, a Stockport-based rubber moulding and gasket fabrication company.
Garlock (Great Britain) Ltd of Elland, near Leeds, said the deal would strengthen its position in the market. Garlock's product line includes gaskets, compression packing, oil seals, bearing isolators, expansion joints, mechanical seals, hydraulic seals, and custom-moulded rubber components.
It is the company's second deal in just over two months, following the acquisition of Leeds-based Northern Gaskets and Mouldings Ltd in December.
PTM, already a distributor of Garlock products, employs 40 people in Stockport and Wrexham. It does custom sealings for the chemical, pharmaceutical and OEM markets including rubber extrusions, gaskets sealings and insulation materials.
Stuart Phythian, managing director of Garlock (Great Britain) Ltd, said: “PTM is a well-established distributor and manufacturer of sealing products and brings considerable engineering expertise to Garlock's UK operation.â€
He said the two companies would combine Garlock's global expertise with PTM's unique knowledge and awareness of its customers' needs.
Garlock's customers include the Large Hadron Collider experiment at CERN near Geneva.
