Evonik has registered silica under REACH
ERJ staff report (DS)
Frankfurt, Germany -- Evonik Industries has successfully registered synthetic amorphous silica with the European Chemicals Agency in Helsinki. Evonik noted that silica and all its other inorganic materials were pre-registered by the deadline of 1 December 2008, but the new full registration marks a first for silica in the industry.
The registration, under REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of CHemicals) legislation, authorises the company, now and in the future, to produce, import, and market its own brands of precipitated silicas under the Ultrasil and Sipernat brand names.
