ERJ staff report (DS)
Akron, Ohio -- Rubber & Plastics News, a Crain Communications Inc publication, and Delta Energy will co-organise the first Going Green in Rubber Conference from 9-10 June, 2009, at the Conference Center at the Holiday Inn in Independence, Cleveland, Ohio, including a keynote address on Tuesday 9 June, presented by:
Robert Handlos, vice president, Product Development for Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC.
The day-and-a-half international event is directed toward executive level managers at rubber component manufacturing companies, as well as suppliers and original equipment manufacturers. The event will focus on how each segment of the rubber product industry can address environmental issues while still growing sales and profitability.
“In a recessionary period it is easy to lose focus on the initiatives related to energy and environmental impact reductions,†said Handlos. “However, these initiatives are key not only to long term survival, but also to providing reduced cost advantages now. “As executives we must be open to change, encouraging our employees to look for and implement where appropriate new ideas and new technologies that will help our industry sustain ourselves and our natural resources,†added Handlos.
