India has limited study on rubberised asphalt

New Delhi -- India's Ministry of Shipping Road Transport & Highways said it does not have any on-going Research Scheme on construction of rubberised roads in the Country. However, currently Ministry's Research Scheme “R-85-Investigation of the field performance of the Bituminous Mixes with Modified Binders†is in progress in the State of Karnataka.
Guidelines have been issued providing for the use of bitumen with modified binders like CRMB, PMB etc. in the top wearing course on the National Highways of the Country, and these are being provided in the Country on National Highways having heavy traffic.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Shri K.H. Muniyappa in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
