Dunlop sued in US over motorcycle death
ERJ staff report (DS)
Butte, Montana -- The survivor of a motorcycle accident is suing Goodyear Dunlop in the US, alleging defective manufacturing of the tyre. Karla Gageby survived the accident with permanent injuries. her husband Stephen who was driving, did not.
"Were it not for a defectively manufactured Dunlop motorcycle tyre, Stephen Gageby might be alive today, promoting safe and responsible motorcycle riding. But even the safest drivers cannot guard against corporate negligence," said motorcycle accident attorney Billy Edwards, who filed the suit on behalf of Karla Gageby.
The tyre in question is a Goodyear Dunlop D402. According to the suit, a defect in the bead seat area of the tyre allowed excessive leakage of air leading to a "sudden and catastrophic deflation" of the Dunlop motorcycle tyre.
