Bekaert nominates Wennemer to join board

Kortrijk, Belgium - Bekaert, the Belgium-based steel cord manufacturer, has nominated Manfred Wennemer to become a director of the board following the announcement that Julien De Wilde is not seeking re-election to the Bekaert board.
Manfred Wennemer has held a number of management positions including ceo of Continental AG from 2001 - Aug 2008, and various positions at the Freudenberg Group.
“Mr. Wennemer has accumulated broad international management experience, especially in his role as ceo of Continental, a Euro 26 400 million tyre and automotive components Group with 150 000 employees in 200 entities worldwide,†said Baron Buysse, chairman of the board. “His appointment would offer Bekaert the opportunity to strengthen its Board of Directors with an independent Director with highly valuable expertise and a strong personality.†Buysse added.
