iSmithers announces new REACH conference
ERJ staff report (RD)
Shropshire, UK - iSmithers, part of The Smithers Group, has announced the programme for the next in its series of technical conferences devoted to the Registration, Evaluation, and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH), the company said 19 March.
Dr Derek Knight, senior scientific advisor to the executive director at ECHA will open the conference and present an extended paper on the importance of risk assessment under REACH. Following papers include papers on consortia management and SIEFs with case studies provided by Accenture, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Caleb Management Services giving practical advice on the management of consortia in an economic downturn, the company said.
Practical advice will be offered on meeting the first REACH deadline in 2010, as well as a look into testing under REACH. It is anticipated that there will not be sufficient expert laboratory space to conduct all the necessary testing within the tight timelines, unless companies plan well in advance by working together with Contract Research Organisations, the statement said.
The second day of the conference looks at REACH in the context of wider industry legislation, including the International Chemical Secretariat (ChemSec) presenting the next step of the SIN (substitute it now) list, which aims to help the substitution of SVHCs (Substances of Very High Concern) to toxic free products and processes.
The conference will take place in Amsterdam from 24-25 June 2009. For more details click the link below.
