Fenner Precision supports OEM partners
ERJ staff report (RD)
Manheim, Pennsylvania - Fenner Precision, a manufacturer of custom rubber belts, tyres and rollers, has developed a range of services designed to support original equipment manufacturers in their push for leaner practices, the company said 19 March.
Fenner Precision's solutions are based on three primary value-added principles: design, breadth of products, and speed and support.
As well as its breadth of products, Fenner can custom design and manufacture parts using in-house tooling. The company also recently installed automatic packaging equipment in its Manheim facility to offer greater speed and support. By having multiple parts under one roof, buyers can save time and reduce their number of vendors as well as administrative paperwork, approvals and certifications, said Tony Watts, group marketing manager at Fenner Precision.
“Original equipment manufacturers who are embracing leaner manufacturing methods understand the need to work with suppliers who can add value to their product and design, as well as maintain on-time delivery," said Watts.
The company said companies that involve a supplier in the design process had an average cost savings of 12.9 percent to 17.5 percent and 10 percent to 20 percent in quality and cycle time improvements, according to an Aberdeen Group study. "The earlier our application engineers are involved in a project, the more cost effective it becomes for our client,†added Watts.
