Continental launches new truck tyre range
ERJ staff report (RD)
Hanover, Germany - Continental AG's truck tyre division has launched a new range of eight truck tyres in five different sizes, the company said recently.
The new generation of tyres has been developed from scratch and is made from “high-quality products for tough everyday use with the single aim of clearly reducing costs in the transport industry,†the company said.
According to Continental, the new range is marked by higher mileage, lower fuel consumption and a rise in safety.
The range uses a 4-ply triangular belt that absorbs the forces from lateral and radial directions and reduces the intrinsic movement of the tyre at its root, Continental said. This ensures a more stable ride with increased driving safety, the company added.
The Air-Keep system, which is incorporated into the range, maintains the tyre inflation pressure at a constant level for up to 50 percent longer than before, the company claim, an important contribution to improving the rolling resistance and thus saving fuel. The full range of tyres will be available from summer 2009.
“The current product offensive is a unique chance for us to expand our market position again and move on from the current economic crisis stronger,†said Herbert Mensching, Continental managing director marketing and sales.
