DSM Elastomers sale on hold
By David Shaw, ERJ staff
Singapore -- Maurits van Tol, global director of R&D at DSM Elastomers said the process of selling the company is currently on hold while DSM Elastomers management and the managements of potential buyers devote more time to managing the effects of the financial crisis on their respective businesses.
He said the company is healthy and viable and there is no rush to sell. The original plan had envisioned a sale before the end of 2010, and that is still possible, even with the crisis, but if it has to be put back a little due to the crisis, that would not be a problem.
He said DSM Elastomers is in negotiations with a number pf potential purchasers, all of whom could bring something significant to the business. however, in the last few months managements at these potential purchasers, and at DSM E have spent a great deal of time and energy managing their businesses through the crisis, so the immediate negotiations are on hold for the time being, until the financial situation eases somewhat.
