Akron - Goodyear's aviation tyres division is celebrating 100 years of developing and manufacturing aircraft tyres.
The tyre maker said since the founding of its aviation division in 1909, it has created several “firsts†in the industry, including the first retreadable aircraft tyre, first low pressure aviation tyre and the first radial aircraft tyre approved by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Goodyear also has introduced the Flight Eagle LT (for light turbine) tyre for the entry level light and very light jet business segments. The company said the tyre features a 6-ply tyre casing, high-speed tread compound and reinforced bead area.
