Avon Automotive denies press reports of layoffs
Plastics & Rubber Weekly
Media reports that Avon Automotive is laying off staff due to a downturn in the automotive industry are wholly untrue.
The erroneous reports should refer to a vibration management facility, based in Chippenham, which Avon Automotive sold to Korean-based Dong Tire & Rubber last December. The operation now trades under the name of DTR VMS.
Speaking at the time of the acquisition, Sang-Hun Kim, president and ceo of Dongah Tire & Rubber, said: “Avon Automotive is a premier manufacturer of anti-vibration products and has been a technical leader in the marketplace for decades.
“The acquisition of Avon Automotive's VMS business expands Dongah Tire & Rubber Corporation's global footprint of anti-vibration products into the European market, providing us with an existing customer base. It also complements our current product offerings.â€
