Trelleborg orders new intelligent curing system
ERJ staff report (DS)
Lund, Sweden -- Trelleborg Industrial AVS in Sjöbo, Sweden has ordered an intelligent cure system from technology start-up company, ReoSense. This is the first order for the new company.
Trelleborg was the development partner for the Reosense's CureSense system, having worked with Jonas Lundberg, CEO of Reosense for the last two years. The new order permits further development work to continue on the revolutionary new technology, said Lundberg.
Reosense recently won SEK 2 million (Euro 184 000) from Midroc New Technology, a venture capital company.
Lundberg said the typical pay-back period for a company choosing to buy the CureSense technology is under one year. He added that it saves typically 10 percent to 20 percent on cure cycle times for rubber goods.
The CureSense system monitors cure kinetics in situ, with the potential for increasing productivity, in the elastomer industry, said Lundberg. He said the speed of ultrasound pulses changes with the degree of curing. These changes have been compiled into an algorithm which automatically triggers for a certain degree of vulcanisation and it sends a signal to the press to open the mould.
The system works in conjunction with injection moulding systems and Lundberg said he is currently talking to major injection moulding machinery suppliers about using the technology as part of their original equipment offering. Both Rep and LWB Steinl have agreed to act as distributors for the Reosense system, while others are expected to sign agreements later this year.
Lundberg said he will give further details on the system at the Nordic Rubber Conference in May and at the IRC in Nuremberg in June.
