Goodyear to invest in South Africa
ERJ staff report (DS)
Uitenhage, South Africa -- Goodyear has made a R70 million (euro 6 million) investment in its plant in Uitenhage this year. The company said it would invest the money in moulds and other technologies for a range of  tyres aimed mainly at the domestic market.
The products include the Duramax G22, DuraGrip and the Wrangler AT/SA
Goodyear's Duramax G22 has been engineered specifically for South Africa's minibus taxis, which are particularly hard on their tyres. The DuraGrip was developed to cope with all the stop-start pressures of constant city-driving, in all weather conditions. The Wrangler AT/SA range now includes Goodyear's proprietary SilentArmor technology.
