Bridgestone Mexico to close factories on government 'flu instructions
ERJ staff report (DS)
Tokyo -- Bridgestone is to temporarily close its four factories in Mexico, following an instruction from the Mexican government in relation to the current outbreak of influenza.
A company spokesman in Japan said the factories will not open today, May 1, and will remain closed until May 5th, according to the government instruction. The company expects to open the factories again on May 6th, but is awaiting further instructions from the Mexican government.
The spokesman said the closures are not related to the current decline in global tyre sales.
