Non-European tyre makers form technical alliance
ERJ staff report (DS)
London -- ITMA, the UK-based Imported Tyre Manufacturers' Association has formed a technical alliance, with the aim of supporting members through the legal and technical issues of new legislation in the EU. The group aims to support members as they face issues in any EU country; not just the UK.
Currently companies who have substantial manufacturing operations in the EU are represented by the ETRMA, but those outside that group have to rely on their own information sources to better understand the changing legislative environment. The new group aims to share experience and knowledge among the different importing companies.
Peter Taylor, ITMA director said, "The tyre industry is facing a deluge of new directives and regulations and we must organise ourselves better in order to prepare to deal with them. Across the EU our members account for up to 40 million tyres per year and we must not allow ourselves to be marginalised or seen wanting."
ITMA members include:
- Alliance Tire & Rubber Co
- Camac Tyres UK Ltd
- Cheng Shin Rubber Co
- GITI
- Hankook Tyre UK Ltd
- Kumho
- Lassa Tyres
- Toyo Tyre UK
- Trayal
- West Lake
- Yokohama
