Goodyear's Keegan to keynote Tire Society

AKRON (June 4, 2009) - Goodyear Chairman, CEO and President Robert Keegan will keynote this year's Tire Society meeting, scheduled for Sept. 15-16 in Akron.
The meeting, covering tyre science and technology, is the society's 28th annual conference. It will be held at the Akron City Centre Hotel.
Mr. Keegan's topic has not yet been announced.
Mr. Keegan follows a long line of tyre company top executives to address the group, which describes itself as an association “established to disseminate knowledge and stimulate scientific and engineering development in the science and technology of tyres†through seminars, technical meetings and the “Tire Science and Technology†journal.
The last several keynoters were: Bridgestone Americas Inc. CEO Mark Emkes; Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. President Tadanobu Nagumo; Pirelli Tyre S.p.A. CEO Francesco Gori; and Terry Gettys, president of Michelin Americas Research and Development Center.
The Tire Society also disclosed it is establishing a “Distinguished Achievement Award,†to be presented biennially to an individual “who makes a substantial contribution to the science and technology of tyres.â€
The recipient will receive an honorarium of $1,000 and be invited to speak at that year's meeting, the society said.
