Michelin enhances mining training in US
ERJ staff report (TB)
Greenville, North Carolina -- Michelin North America has enhanced the mining tyre best practices seminar the tyre maker offers near its headquarters in Greenville to teach customers how to reduce operating costs, improve productivity and extend tyre life.
“In addition to helping mine operators get the maximum life out of their tyres, we're helping them become even better business people by sharing practices we have gathered from other mining companies,†said Terry Beach, director of earthmover training, Michelin Earthmover Tires. “Our facility visits also give attendees a first-hand look at how our tyres are made and how they perform in different situations.â€
In addition to tyre and rim maintenance, the seminar, taught by Michelin and Klinge & Co. instructors, covers management topics, such as market intelligence and supply chain; operational factors, such as speed, haul road design, road maintenance and load management; and vehicle issues, including strut maintenance, alignment and bed modifications.
During the three-day class, attendees visit Michelin's earthmover tyre manufacturing facility in Lexington, South Carolina, and its tyre testing facility in Laurens, South Carolina. Customers register for the classes through their local Michelin mine account manager.
