Hankook tyres to drive across three continents
ERJ staff report (RD)
Neu-Isenburg, Germany - Gerhard Plattner, an Austrian distance driver, is aiming to drive across three continents in just three days, starting 8 June 2009. The Austrian will drive through 13 countries in an Audi A3 using Hankook's high-performance tyres, Hankook said recently.
“Our Audi A3 1.9 TDI e and our Hankook tyres provide the best conditions for top performance, dependability, and fuel economy under all road conditions on all three continents,†said Plattner.
“We chose the high-performance Hankook Ventus S1 evo tyres, which Audi also uses as original equipment on various A3 models, because, in spite of their exceptionally good traction, these tyres have proven that they are also highly durable and have low rolling resistance. Of course, even with the best possible equipment, every success always involves a bit of luck - especially when it comes to the weather and traffic,†he added.
Plattner has circled the globe seven times in his career and will drive almost seven million kilometres in this new challenge. The Guiness book of records dubbed Plattner “the most versatile driver in the world,†Hankook said.
