Tyresure launch TPMS bus and light truck system
ERJ staff report (RD)
Leicestershire, UK - Following its passenger car tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), UK-based Tyresure has now introduced its new bus and light truck system for the UK and Europe, the company said recently. The company offers similar products in the US, but under different branding.
Six high-precision sensors are used to constantly monitor tyre pressure and temperature and then relay the information back to the driver “in an easy-to-read format with full automatic alerts,†the company said.
Tyresure said the system has already been tested in Taiwan on Mitsubishi buses used on the Taipei transport service, adding that, “the fitment of the Tyresure system proved to bring considerable savings on tyres and fuel, with increased margins of safety.â€
According to Tyresure a 15-20 percent drop in tyre pressure can lead to a 5-10 percent increase in fuel consumption and 30 percent increase in tyre wear. The company uses a long-life sensor mounted inside each wheel to sample data every 3 seconds to check tyre pressure.
“In the current financial climate, this is something all operators can opt for, with minimal outlay, to significantly reduce their costs and improved their HSE procedures,†said Ian Smith, Tyresure UK managing director.
