Cuenca, Ecuador (June 8, 2009) - Compania Ecuatoriana del Caucho S.A. (ERCO), a Continental AG affiliate, has added capacity for radial truck tyres at its plant in Cuenca in a $15 million investment.
The addition of this production area created about 200 new jobs, according to Carlos Jiménez, president of the Federation of Heavy Transport of Ecuador.
Continental supported the installation of the radial capacity, according to ERCO, which said it is the first tyre maker in the Andean economic region with radial truck tyre capacity.
Conti owns a 38-percent stake in ERCO.
