ERJ staff report (TB)
Greenville, South Carolina -- US-based Computerworld magazine has named Michelin North America Inc. among the top 100 best workplaces for information technology (IT) professionals, and in top place for career development.
The designation was part of the weekly IT publication's 16th annual “Best Places to Work in IT†survey, the results of which were published in the magazine's June 15 issue and online at Computerworld.com. Greenville-based Michelin ranked 18th among the top 100 companies. It took top slot for career development and 7th place for retention
Computerworld, an International Data Group publication, ranked firms based on a survey of company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. This year the publication surveyed more than 27,000 IT workers, which it said factored heavily in determining the rankings.
“Respect for people is one of Michelin's core values, and this honor speaks to the company's dedication to providing a stimulating and rewarding work environment for all employees, including our information technology team,†said Richard Alexander, vice president of information systems for the Greenville-based tire maker. “This award also demonstrates Michelin's ongoing commitment to providing our workforce and our customers with the best technology and IT support resources available.â€
Michelin said it employs hundreds of IT professionals who support the company's more than 22,000 employees across North America. Computerworld said Michelin North America has 214 IT staff, serving 17 840 total employees
