Puchov, Slovak Republic -- Continental AG plans to cut production of truck tyres in half at its Continental Matador Truck Tires S.r.o. unit in Puchov.
Reducing truck tyre output at the Puchov plant will result in the loss of 75 jobs there by November at the latest, Conti said. The cutbacks are part of a decision to cut 2 million units of truck tyre capacity this year.
The company said it already had exhausted all other available cost-reduction measures - extended holidays, reduced hours, hiring freeze, etc.-but further measures are necessary.
