Michelin UK wins innovation award for X-one

Stoke-on-Trent, UK -- Michelin's UK unit has scooped a top award at this year's Motor Transport Awards, held in front of an audience of 1300 senior road transport professionals at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Wednesday, 1 July 2009.

In winning the Innovation Award, Michelin demonstrated that its new X One MaxiTrailer tyre not only delivers an increase in tyre life of up to 50 per cent, but also provides significant gains in productivity, safety and reduced environmental impact.

Martin Covington, Head of Truck and Earthmover Marketing at Michelin UK said “The X One MaxiTrailer tyre is a relatively new product on the market, but trials with a number of major fleets are delivering outstanding results - in many cases out-performing our projected 50 per cent increase in tyre life and delivering improvements as high as 82 per cent. It's a staggering performance and is being achieved using patented innovations which we believe represent the most notable change in truck tyre manufacturing since Michelin introduced radial truck tyres back in 1952,” he adds.
