Taniq wins recognition from Auto makers
By David Shaw, ERJ staff
Nuremberg, Germany -- Taniq has won a prize from the automotive industry. Siebe Nooij, CEO of Taniq, said the jury is made up from the OEM car makers -- especially the German OEMs.The prize was awarded for Taniq's innovative approach to fibre winding for rubber reinforcement.
Nooij said the main interest from the auto makers had been in charger hoses for turbochargers. He said the car makers are now starting to recognise that the Taniq approach is worthwhile. They, in turn, are contacting their suppliers to suggest they explore the Taniq technology. he said some of those suppliers are already customers of Taniq, while others are not -- not yet.
Nooij said the latest idea is to offer charger hoses without an outer protective layer. This saves money and saves manufacturing step. He noted that the outer cover is often used only to ensure the reinforcing fibres remain in place. With the Taniq approach, those fibres do not want to move, so there is no need for an outer layer of rubber.
