Toyo wins award for seismic isolation bearings

Tokyo -- Gomu Corp., a subsidiary of Toyo Tires, has been awarded a prestigious prize in Japan for its research efforts in the field of laminated rubber bearings.
The 10th Association of Structural Seismic Isolation Technology Prize Award (Special Award) was awarded to researchers associated with Gomu and its development partners The ceremony was held June 4 at 17 from the Meiji Memorial Hall.
The work allowed Gome to develop a laminated bearing with long deformation , yet still capable of carrying the load of a building. This has, up to now, been considered impossible.
