Freudenberg marks a century of developing seals for Audi
ERJ staff report (DS)
Weinheim, Germany -- Audi has been producing technically advanced, innovative solutions for a hundred years. Throughout this period, Audi has relied on its co-operation with Freudenberg Dichtungs- und Schwingungstechnik in countless development projects, said FDS.
One example of this successful co-operation is the Audi Quattro. New sealing solutions were developed especially for the gearbox, and a large number of Freudenberg seals were used to protect both the drive train and the chassis. But even before this, documents in the company archives show that numerous Freudenberg seals were used in the very first Audi F 103.
Co-operation on the development of radial shaft seals and special seals even goes as far back as the Auto Union (DKW) era. Today, Freudenberg is helping Audi implement its downsizing concepts. Friction-minimized seals go a long way towards helping effectively reduce consumption and emissions in a sustainable manner.
