Bridgestone officially opens Japanese OTR tyre plant

Tokyo -- Bridgestone Corp. has officially opened its new Kitakyushu Plant for large and ultralarge off-the-road radial tyres for construction and mining vehicles. Production began at the plant in June, ahead of its previously announced schedule. The Kitakyushu plant is the first new tyre plant constructed by Bridgestone in Japan in 33 years.
The opening ceremony was held on Tuesday and was attended by local government representatives and regional dignitaries
The plant will process 80 tonnes of rubber daily and employ 329 when it reaches full capacity in mid 2012.
