Avon Rubber closes UK pension scheme to existing workers

Melksham, UK -- Avon Rubber plc has said it did well in the first half of the year, but it is changing employment contracts for all remaining UK employees, and closing its UK Defined Benefit Pension Scheme to future accrual of benefits.
In additino, it has said 68 employees at its Hampton Park West facility have taken voluntary redundancy, after the company moved the manufacturing activity to a sub-contractor based in Czech Republic
In a statrement, the comapny said, "We are pleased with the Group's progress so far this year." The company did not give financial details.
